Reel Roots has recently opened up opportunities for advertising at our events!

If you are a business in Cincinnati, you can help support our efforts and the musicians by purchasing advertisements in our event programs, or banner advertisements on our website.

We have set up several advertising packages on our website, which you can read more about by clicking here.

Additionally, we have other custom advertising opportunities for those interested. These would include the opportunity to display your company’s brochures, business cards, coupons, flyers, or other materials at our events for our patrons to pick up.

Reel Roots Featured in the Cincinnati Community Press

We would like to say thanks to the Cincinnati Community Press for featuring an article about Reel Roots, and the Celtic Music we are bringing to the Greater Cincinnati area!

The article featured RRFMA founder and owner Kristen Kirby and details why Reel Roots was started. The article also mentions several other Cincinnati Scottish and Irish heritage organizations which have helped inspire an interest in the music locally.

RRFMA Interview on WNKU

Recently, Reel Roots had the honor of being interviewed by Cheri Lawson of WNKU (89.7 FM). The interview aired last friday, April 30th on WNKU’s morning radio program and we are really excited about the wonderful feedback we have received from our fans!

The interview featured Kristen Kirby, owner of Reel Roots Folk Music Alliance, and also accordionist John Whelan who will be in Cincinnati this November for a concert. Songs by both John, and Scottish singer Alyth McCormack were also featured in the interview.

Announcing Our First Shows!

This week Reel Roots confirmed two amazing concerts for this fall!

For starters, Brendan Begley & Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh will perform in Cincinnati as a duo October 28th. Brendan comes all the way from County Kerry in Ireland and is a well known accordion player and singer. You may know Brendan from the traditional Celtic supergroup Boys of the Lough.  Caoimhín is an amazing fiddle player from Dublin and is known for his unique tunings and playing style.

Our second show will be with John Whelan and Tommy O’Sullivan on November 10th. John is a world renowned accordion player and is known in the folk world for his playing and songwriting. Tommy is a fantastic guitarist and singer hailing from Ireland as well. This duo will make for a great night of fun and dancing!

Alyth McCormack “People Like Me” CD Giveaway!

Hello Cincinnati Celtic music fans! After our recent interview with Scottish singer Alyth McCormack, she was kind enough to give us one of her CD’s to share with you!

People Like Me is Alyth’s latest album and contains both traditional Gaelic and some contemporary material. Alyth is joined by Jonny Hardie  (Old Blind Dogs) on guitar and fiddle and Brian McAlpine (Session A9) on piano and accordion and many other well known Celtic musicians on this CD. The 13 track CD includes the following songs:

This CD is hard to find in the US, so its a real treat for us to be able to offer. This is a beautiful CD and we guarantee you will wear it out in your CD player!

Giveaway Registration is $2 and all proceeds go toward bringing some great performers to the Cincinnati area for concerts and music workshops for students. Raffle winner will be chosen and notified at the end of May at random by entry number.



Interviews With the Artists

Hello everyone! We wanted to let you know that in addition to concerts, we will occasionally be featuring exclusive  interviews on our website with some of your favorite Celtic bands, musicians, dancers, and anyone else we think you’d like to hear from. So don’t forget to sign up for our website newsletter so that you can be the first to know when we post new interviews and concert dates.

Our first interview with Scottish singer Alyth McCormack, who is known for her Gaelic singing, has been posted and you can read the full article on the website. It was a pleasure to interview Alyth and it is wonderful to learn a little more about what keeps such a fabulous singer ticking!

We will continue to bring you interviews from the artists that you know and love, and perhaps introduce you to some folks that you haven’t yet run across.

Additionally, we are currently planning some great concerts for the fall, so stay tuned! We will post those on the website as soon as they are booked and contracts are signed.



Welcome to Reel Roots!

After several months of planning, we are so proud to launch Reel Roots Folk Music Alliance! Now that we are set up and ready to go, we look forward to bringing you some great music in the near future.

Reel Roots was founded to bring traditional music from Ireland and the UK to the Cincinnati area, but also to raise awareness and interest in the genre. We hope to support both international and local organizations and performers in our quest to provide you with some great entertainment experiences.

As we schedule events, we will be posting the information on our website, so keep checking back! Please sign up for our newsletter as well so that we can send you the latest details on events you might be interested in attending. We won’t share your email address… we hate spam as much as you do!
